We also recommend the following talk given by Rev. Master Basil’s teacher, Rev. Master Koshin Schomberg.

“The Litany of the Great Compassionate One” is a short scripture that we regularly recite at meetings.

Further talks by Rev. Master Koshin Schomberg can be found on the North Cascades Buddhist Priory website. We highly recommend them.

Buddhist Writings

Zen is Eternal Life is a book by Rev. Master Jiyu Kennet which includes her teachings on the fundamentals of Soto Zen, as well as teachings by the two most important Japanese masters in our tradition, Dogen Zenji and Keizan Zenji.

Zen-is-Eternal-Life

Dogen Zenji (1200-1253) was a Japanese monk and a very important ancestor in the Serene Reflection (Soto Zen) tradition. He was the founder of the temple, Eiheiji and of Soto Zen in Japan; the first of the Japanese ancestors in our lineage, which stretches back to Shakyamuni Buddha. He produced a great body of profound spiritual writings, one of which we have included below.
